One of the most recognizable artists in all of Universal Music Group - the Jonas Brothers stole the attention of the world with their 2019 comeback album Happiness Begins.
It was my privilege to design the album artwork and physical packages for this monumental release.

︎ COLORFUL PERSONALITY
Everyone has their favorite color. And I’m told, everyone has their favorite Jonas Brother. Personally, I think they’re all lovely. I mean, why choose favorites? Isn’t there ample room for a little equality and open-mindedness in this world? Anyway..
For this extremely visible campaign, each Brother was featured at random on one of three versions of the package. Each with an accompanying key color that was mapped to the disc / shell along with a portrait unique to that edition.
︎ IN THE BOX
Of course: the superfan. For a release this big there’s a high demand from fans to connect as deeply as possible with the band.
To try to satiate that need, we worked to extend the creative from the standard package into a box set complete with a branded backpack, posters, prints and more limited edition items.
︎ BEGINNERS MIND
Perhaps one of the more difficult things in the world of design is not to manacure your kerning til it shines like gold, or massage a websites break points until your eyes melt but rather simply to draw a happy little picture with the sun in the corner.
When one of the Brothers, who is a parent presented a piece of art from his child to be the foundation of an element of the package design. It was up to my CD and I to respect the artist and help resolve the initial idea with a bit of digital crayon and scissors.
