In 2020 HBO launched it’s global streaming service HBOMax and with it came a torrent of new programing for which I’ve been honored to contribute artwork. From the spotlight-shining documentaries the brand is already well know for to newer sketch comedies my role was to find visual representations that rise to the high level HBO is know the world over to deliver.
The selected work below shows an array of titles I was proud to have developed. As with most in-house design departments, the final output belies the massive output involved in the process. ︎ GOD SAVE TEXAS
Texas is big and Texas is complicated. Directors Richard Linklater, Alex Stapleton, and Iliana Sosa are all Texans and have each written a love letter to their home towns and the problems they find there.
In a past life, I drove slowly across America. Over those years a few things became clear, there are problems everywhere, there are good people everywhere and Texas is big.

︎ LUCY THE HUMAN CHIMP
In 1960s experiment, a chimpanzee named Lucy was raised as a human from two days old. At age 11 Lucy was too strong to be kept by her human family, and was returned to the wild to learn to associate with a new troop of chimps.

This documentary details Lucy’s caretaker and freind Janis over years of shared life in the jungle as she helps reintroduce Lucy to her new family.

︎ PERSONA
Taking a personality test can provide fun and useful insights into our sense of self, but the world-famous Myers-Briggs Type Indicator has an unexpected and complicated history.
We were tasked with creating a vibrant piece of Key Art to address the test’s ethical questions and reveal some of the profound ways that ideas about personality have shaped our society.

︎ THAT DAMN MICHAEL CHE
Michael Che made a name for himself as a much loved  member of the cast of Saturday Night Live. So when HBO announced his very own skit show coming to the network expectations were high.
With New York City as the back drop and episodes poking fun at the big issues of our day, we created a gritty piece of Key Art which is immediately recognizable to anyone who’s ever stepped foot in Manhattan.

︎ THE WEIGHT OF GOLD
Every four years Olympic athletes are presented to the world as titans in their feilds. What often goes unseen are the mental health challenges that come with performing at such a high level.
Featuring heart wrenching accounts from producer Michael Phelps, Apolo Ohno, Shaun White and other athletes who have struggeled with these issues, the film inspires a timely discussion and encourages people to seek the help they need, no matter who they are.
